Purpose and scope
ASA Privacy Shield is a visual privacy extension for WhatsApp Web. Its single purpose is to reduce accidental on-screen exposure of private content in shared environments.
Local handling of WhatsApp Web content
To provide its visual privacy features, the extension locally handles page regions that may contain personally identifiable information, personal communications and website content, including contact or group names, profile photos, messages and media previews. It uses structural page selectors to apply blur, opacity or visibility effects. This processing occurs on the user’s device.
ASA Privacy Shield does not transmit, upload, sell or share WhatsApp messages, names, profile photos, media, phone numbers, chat identifiers or browsing history. There is no analytics, advertising, tracking or telemetry service in the extension.
Local settings
The storage permission saves user-selected privacy settings, profiles, schedules, theme and floating-control preferences in browser extension storage. WhatsApp message content and contact identifiers are not saved. Users can reset this information in the extension or remove it by uninstalling the extension.
Website access
Access is restricted to https://web.whatsapp.com/*. This permission is used only to apply selected visual protections and display the extension’s privacy controls on WhatsApp Web. The extension does not request access to browsing history, cookies, authentication data, camera, microphone, location or unrelated websites.
Remote code and transfers
All executable code is included in the extension package. The extension does not download or execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly and does not transfer user data to ASA Toolz or any third party.
Website and support communications
This website does not receive WhatsApp content. If a user emails support, ASA Toolz receives the email address and information voluntarily included in the message solely to respond to the request. Users should not include real chats, credentials or other sensitive information in support messages.
Data retention and deletion
Local extension preferences remain until the user resets the extension, clears extension storage or uninstalls it. Support emails are retained only as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain support records and meet applicable legal obligations. A user may request deletion of a support conversation by contacting ASA Toolz.
Security and product limits
ASA Privacy Shield uses Manifest V3, packaged code and narrowly scoped permissions. Its blur and cover effects reduce casual visual exposure; they do not encrypt chats, prevent screenshots or photographs, replace a device lock, or secure a WhatsApp account.

Policy changes
If the extension’s data practices materially change, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before the new practices are introduced. The effective date above will also be revised.
